District Champions

You’re looking at the back to back district 13-AAA champions!

After a 0-1 deficit, we came back the second half with a final score of 3-2. Keagan slipped in mud and hyperextended his knee. He played with an injured knee and still had one of the best games he’s ever played. The boys played with such tenacity!

When that third goal went in, the crowd went wild! I briefly loss consciousness jumping up so quickly while simultaneously yelling at the top of my lungs.

At the end of the night, he was honored as an All District selection.

His cheering squad was there in full force. Neither Vikki nor I have a voice today.

Promposal

Nothing says last minute like Keagan. He’s a procrastinator like you’ve never known. Thirty minutes before he was supposed to meet Madi for dinner, he’s at the store looking for poster board. Twenty minutes later he’s searching for Modge Podge and trying to get his promposal together. We had glue on the table, glue all over our hands, and glue on the cat’s tail. And the phone was ringing, “Where are you? I’m starving!”

I ordered this puzzle three months ago! Three days before prom, he’s finally asking Madi to be his missing piece.

The three Schact girls are all crying with the sweetness. The glue is off the table, and the cat is chasing birds clueless of any glue on his tail.

Senior Award Night

Tonight we had the semi-final game for the district tournament and senior award night. Maycember is worse than December; we have something to do every weekend and weeknight - so much do it is now overlapping.

Keagan and Tristan

Before the game, Ethan told Keagan that this could be their last game to play together. He said, “Don’t make it our last.” Woah! Talk about pressure. Keagan’s first twenty minutes on the field were rough; he made several mental errors. But he recovered and played a great second half.

After our 1-0 win, Keagan ran across the parking lot and caught the counselor as she was packing away the no-show awards. He learned he won the Distinguished Athlete Award for showing leadership on the field, and he was awarded the Volunteer Service pin for his numerous volunteer hours with the Feed the People breakfast program. He’s got his uniform on and his backpack on his back, smelling like he needs a shower, and looking like he just played one heck of a game.

He’s such a good person! Truly! I’m in the stands saying bad words, and he’s being recognized for poise.  I don’t deserve him, but somehow God granted me the wonderful job of being his mama.

Back at It

Keagan’s cleared and back on the field. He’s wearing the captain armband and all is well with his concussion.

Unfortunately, we tied 1-1 tonight and finished as the second seed in the district. A little less than two weeks and we are playing in the district tournament. I hope we can find some offense between now and then!

Buddy Ball

Friday night, after training, Keagan volunteered with his soccer teammates with the local Buddy Ball organization. This is such a wonderful organization, and we are so happy to have our boys supporting their mission.

I think so highly of unselfishness - especially people unselfish with their time. It’s so much easier to go home and sit on the couch - especially on a Friday when you are exhausted from the week! But these guys went to school, trained, and then gave their time to volunteer. ❤️⚽️👏

Senior Night

There were so many mixed feelings tonight at Senior Night. We were hoping Keagan could dress, start, and play a minute, but the trainer vetoed the idea. However, we are now in day two of return to play and all is going as planned with his recovery.

I have planned every detail of tonight’s event, and I’m so relieved for it to be over. Only one more month of booster club responsibilities are left! I can’t wait to say good-bye to it all forever.

Madi’s house, and now my house, are covered in glitter. 😂

Grandma Schact (who attends every game) and Granny were there to cheer him on even though he didn’t take the field.

Senior walk - so many wonderful things have happened on this field! It was so inspiring to hear his teammates cheer for him when his name was announced. They all know how hard it is for the team captain to be watching the Senior Night game on the sidelines instead of playing in it.

These guys have played together since elementary school; so many games, so many wins, so many memories!
