Tonight we celebrated our successful soccer season with a banquet. Second year players were awarded the golden bar.

Tomorrow night is round one of state against a powerhouse team. Go Hawks!

High School Rivalry

It’s our version of Friday Night Lights. We swapped the helmets for shin guards and exchanged the football for a soccer ball. We played our rival highschool this weekend, and we came home with a win. Evan played the full JV game and assisted the team in getting a shutout, 3-0.

He was supposed to play in the varsity game, too, but in the last fifteen minutes of the JV game, another player slide tackled his ankle. Evan tried icing and stretching it, but the swelling just kept increasing. He sat the varsity game out. I hated his missing the game because he wanted nothing more than to keep the opposing team (and Harrison) scoreless. It just was t meant to be. We ended up with a win, but it was not with ease. We will play the same team again in district playoffs. Evan will be ready!

Hawks Soccer

Middle School soccer started this week. We only have five returning players, so I don't have many high expectations for this team. We won game one 3-0 tonight, thought, and I am hopeful it is not our last.

District Champs

Middle school soccer play-offs have taken place every night this past week. We won the first game on Monday night 8-0. Wednesday we advanced to the semi-finals and won 5-1. Friday night we played in the championship game; the boys completed the season undefeated and as the district champs!

Lightening put an early end to the game on Friday night; tonight we celebrated the big win at the trophy presentation.

Take That, Middle School Mom

Hey, You! Yeah, You, Middle School Mom! Remember when you told me 6th graders don't usually make the middle school team? Yeah, I remember, too. Well, guess what? Evan made the team.

Remember when you also told me if a 6th grader does make the team, he will get very little playing time? Yeah, me too. Well, guess what? Evan played right wing and ran up and down that field as much as any other winger.

Remember when you also told me only eighth graders and maybe a few seventh graders will ever get to start a game? Yeah, me too. Well, guess what? Evan started last night.

So I was wondering. What do you think about my boy now?

Flying High

Evan made it (insert big sigh of relief)! Today we learned he was one of three sixth graders to make the middle school soccer team. With no school last week, I had more than enough time to check the online rosters, and I've been stalking the page like a crazy helicopter mom.

I was sweating it because we knew fifteen players from try-outs would be cut and all of them currently play travel soccer. That meant good players would have to be turned away.

Our first game is in three weeks; I've purchased my red stadium seat and have my spirit wear ready. Go Hawks!
