Freshman orientation and class registration was this week. Remember back in 1992 when you had to go to the gym to find the professor teaching the college class you wanted to take? You had to stand in line. You had to ask if there was an open slot. You had to provide a brief background to prove you could handle the class. When you got the professor’s coveted signature, then you raced to the next table to find the next professor and the next signature.
Well, they don’t do that any more.
This is freshman registration now. It’s all done online on the couch in your living room, and data driven formulas determine which classes you should take. He’s registered for college algebra, English, philosophy, soccer, biology, and freshman focus.
