The Not-So-Happy Halloween that Turned Happy

This is what Halloween night looks like when you are in middle school, have a math test tomorrow, and a two hour basketball practice. Study, study, study.

One of the two guys was really unhappy and felt like Mom had totally ruined his night. I tried to tell him he should have studied last night.

Then the doorbell rang. These girls were too cute to say no to.

This will be remembered as the Halloween Mom almost ruined.

For the Love of Animals

For years Keagan has wanted a dog. We don't have a fenced yard. We are gone every weekend playing soccer. We move frequently. A dog just doesn't fit with our lifestyle, but Keagan is adamant about getting a dog. He has been saving his money to buy a fence for his dog, but when he learned that thousands of dollars would be needed instead of hundreds, he decided to put his money to an even better use.

He decided to donate it to the local animal shelter. He's been saving his dog sitting money, a bit of his birthday money, and his tooth-fairy money for months. He decided today he was ready to part with it all, so he took his $85 to the Animal Shelter.

He was greeted with such kindness and thanked profusely for his donation, but all he really wanted to do was see the animals and pet each and every one of them. However, as soon as he saw the cages, he began to tear up. He texted me and said, "This is the hardest thing I have ever done." True to his word, though, he went to every animal and greeted each one.

He's such a sweet, kind-hearted kid! I'm so proud to call him mine!

I can't wait to surprise him one day with a dog of his own!

Fall Break

The boys have been on fall break this past week and it has been so relaxing. No homework. No projects. No stress. They have spent the days sleeping, playing soccer, eating me out of house and home, and shooting hoops. However, Keagan made it clear that he needed something exciting to do since most of his friends were taking trips to the beach and Disney World.

Wednesday night we had ice cream for dinner, but that wasn't quite what he had in mind with exciting.

Family Fun Friday included pizza, go-carts, and laser tag. This was more up his alley, but he got accused of shooting little kids in the eye and almost got kicked out of the laser tag room. Evan got his phone shattered when he go-cart was rammed from behind and he has bruises up and down his shins from the "tiny" carts.

And on Saturday we went to the local orchard to pick apples, drink apple cider slushies, and eat fried pies. The trees were bare, so we had to select apples from the country store and there was only one fried pie left on the shelf. We had to split it among the four of us and that was no fun. No fun at all.

I'm not sure that we can report having an exciting fall break, but we did have some great family time. The only way it could have been more perfect is if it included a trip to the beach, a non-shattered phone, and fried pies by the dozen.

Our trip to the beach in December can't come fast enough!

Weekend Shots

We didn't win any of our RPL games this weekend in South Carolina, but I loved spending every minute I had with this guy.

Weekend Shots

Second place is no fun and it's written all over Keagan's face.
