Five years later we have grown to love Tennessee as much as our home state of Texas. Our adventures as a military family continue in the land made famous for country music and hot chicken. As much as our lives have changed with our twenty plus years in the military, much remains the same. We spend our weekends playing soccer, our winters on the beach, and our holidays with family.

Basketball Season
The JV team leaves the season with a 13-3 record. Evan had 19 points in last night’s game. In the varsity game, he went 1 for 1 on the foul line and had two steals. Next week the district tournament begins for the varsity team.

Soccer Showcase
Wes and Keagan spent the weekend in Memphis playing soccer and eating barbecue. My parents joined them for the fun and great spring-like weather. Saturday morning’s game against Illinois ended in a 1-1 tie. Last night’s game against Mississippi ended in a win of 3-0 and proved to be Keagan's best defensive game. I heard he was playing, coaching, and reffing throughout the game. When he made a great play up top feeding the ball to the striker, the goalie was overheard yelling, "I love you, Keagan!" It's so much more fun when you are winning! Today’s game against Memphis was a win of 4-0.
This text came to me after lunch from another parent on the team.
This wraps up travel season. School soccer begins as soon as we lose our first district game in basketball. I can’t wait to see Thunder and Lightning play soccer together again.
We have more pictures of my parents with my boys in Memphis on the sidelines of the soccer fields than we do at our house. Here's one more for the collection.

Running on Empty
I’m exhausted. I have done nothing but run since New Years. I had the team meal on Tuesday, but without a full working kitchen, I had to resort to having it catered. It was a full hour late arriving to the school. I spent half an hour trying to locate it. So much for paying for someone else to do it and save me some time.
This week we had the floors ripped out, hardwood put down and then stained “whiskey barrel” to match the stairs. This has been my living room for a week.
Thursday the old wood floors were sanded. Dust is in every crevice of the first floor.
But I came home from the airport to this!
I was TDY beginning Wednesday for a teacher leader conference in Georgia. I was able to reconnect with my TOY friends and create an action plan.
After working for four hours in my classroom this afternoon, I’m relieved to be home - even a messy home. Can I just sleep for the next two days?!?!

Team Brothers
The second half of basketball season is wrapping up. My favorite season is almost upon us - soccer season. Until then, there is nothing better than having both boys on the gym floor at the same time.
They usually play most of the JV game on the court at the same time. They read each other and feed off of each other so well. It’s great fun to watch. The JV record this season is 12-1.

Hamilton
For two years I have waited to see Hamilton. Two years! The show was everything and then some. If I had another $200 I would go back to see it again tonight. It was that good! I’m so thankful for great friends who sit on hold for three hours to secure tickets ! Love these girls!

Weekend of Basketball
We spent our three days in Texas watching basketball. Thursday night we drove to Dallas to see the Mavericks play the Nets.
We were there before the doors opened to get autographs. Evan got the autographs of Seth Curry and Dwight Powell. Keagan sulked because Durant didn’t travel with the Nets.
Friday night we watched the local highschool varsity team play at the new high school gym. My hometown can’t provide internet connection to all of its residents, but they can build a million dollar animal rescue center and a high school gym with bucket seats. Priorities, People.
Today, after a five day break, the boys are back in the gym with their team.

Saturday morning we watched Mallory’s team play game one of two. She had the biggest cheering section of any player, and the boys and I left the game wishing we were getting to watch more. She was awesome!

New Years
We are in Texas for New Years. New Years Eve we played the Saran Wrap ball game. I went to the Mecca of Dollar General stores back home and spent $20 on prizes, prizes that would work for a 17 year old male or an 8 year old female. The fight for the gum was real!
Mallory ended up with the most loot. Caroline was bummed to get word search books.
After trading all of his goods, Keagan got the coveted lemon cake, and then, after finding a hair in it, decided it wasn’t nearly as good as the lemon cake from Starbucks.
Vikki and I laughed and laughed watching this. It will have to be a new tradition for the family.
Because we know how to live it up, we were all in bed by 1100. May 2020 be good to us all and be filled with good health, new beginnings, and joyous laughter.

We played a rousing game of Family Feud where Evan served as the host. Daddy gave an answer of prostitution that caused questions from the younger grands, embarrassment on Oma’s part, and laughter from the older grands. We ended the night watching football, a much safer option.
