State Sectionals

We were one goal - one goal - from State. Our season ended tonight; Keagan played his last game wearing #14 for Rossview.

But what a game! He easily played his best game this season tonight.

The team came out motivated and playing with such intensity. In fact, we scored the first goal. At half, Keagan gave his motivational speech, and the boys came back out to tie it 2-2.

I’ve been so nervous with him winning the hall with his head, but he doesn’t seem impacted by it all.

For some boys, tonight’s game was their very last. I’m so happy we return to the field on June 1 with the travel team in preparation for Regionals.

Thankful

Tonight I’m thankful. The weather was perfect, but I’m not thankful for warm temperatures.

We won 6-1, but I’m not thankful for the dub.

Keagan had a terrific game playing the six, but I’m not thankful for his dynamic skills that led to offensive plays.

In the first few minutes of the second half, Keagan was fouled from behind and hit in the back of the head. He was knocked out before he hit the ground. He was unconscious for less than a minute, but one player thought he had died. The crowd thought for sure he was seriously injured with head trauma. He has seen two doctors, two nurses, and an athletic trainer. We see another doctor tomorrow, and so far they all agree that he is walking away from, what looked to be a career ending injury, with only a concussion.

Tonight I am so very thankful.

Back at It

Today is student-athlete day. I’m lucky enough to have this guy to celebrate! Keagan was back on the pitch for last night’s important, must-win district game.  The past three months have taken us on a wild ride with two back-to-back MCL sprains. We have been reassured the structure of the knee is perfect; these injuries have been unusual because of their similarities but just flukes. It was so good to hear people cheer when he took the field last night. He was awarded the assist for our second goal with this corner kick.

Tonight’s 3-2 win against a rival team makes us one of the only 30 undefeated high school teams in the state.

We play again Thursday and hope to keep the winning streak alive!
