We ended with a big win; the final score was 6-0! Keagan had the largest cheering section in the stands.
Five years later we have grown to love Tennessee as much as our home state of Texas. Our adventures as a military family continue in the land made famous for country music and hot chicken. As much as our lives have changed with our twenty plus years in the military, much remains the same. We spend our weekends playing soccer, our winters on the beach, and our holidays with family.

Big Win
Another home game tonight for the reserve team. We made it in time to watch warm-ups and hear Keagan’s name announced for the starting lineup.

Big D
Even if day two in Dallas didn’t produce longhorns or cheerleaders, we tried to explore as many of the districts as our itinerary allowed. We started the day in the Harwood District eating brunch at a Parisian restaurant. The spinach quiche and mimosa with the frozen fruit ball were delish!
We sat in the courtyard and listened to live music and then spent a couple of hours in the Arts District at the Dallas Museum of Art. It was impressive with Picasso, Kahlo, O’Keefe, Signet, Dumas, Renoir, and Monet works on display.
After feeling cultured, we headed back to the house for afternoon football. We are probably the only ladies who take a girls’ trip and still watch college football, but we do. Dinner was in the East Quarter, near Deep Ellum, at the Brass Ram and it was superb! The hollandaise sauce on my steak was unbelievably good.
I’m tired. I’ve had too much alcohol. I’ve eaten too much food. But I’m lovin’ every minute of it! Tomorrow I’m back to work, drinking a gallon of water, eating grilled chicken salad, and the early morning gym times. Reality is not very fun after a girls’ weekend.

Girls Weekend
It’s girls’ weekend, and this year we are spending it in Big D! I’ve been awake almost twenty four hours, but the laughter and memories, both old and new, sure make up for the lack of sleep. Today we had lunch at Lovers Seafood, had a few drinks at the VRBO, and ate dinner at an excellent Italian place in Oak Cliff called Lucia. The bread and pasta were divine.
Notes I have taken after being away for thirty years. Texans are naturally friendly and like to talk on plane rides - even when my eyes are barely open from a nap. It’s hotter than Hades; who says it is fall? I forget how much Texas women love to wear a dress. Traffic on 75 is still backed up. Oak Cliff is no longer the Oak Cliff of the 90s.
Tomorrow we have eat great food, drink alcoholic beverages, and survive the heat on our to-do list.

Winning on the Road
Starting 11 at tonight’s road game in Dayton. That’s my boy on the back row starting at the six but also playing the 8, center back, and full back.
Is there anything better than a goal in the 87th minute to secure the win?
These guys don’t think so.

First Collegiate Game
Monday night was Keagan’s first college game. I could tell from the stands he was a nervous wreck; he was pacing and shifting his weight unable to stand still. But he took the field playing right back, his favorite position, and did great. His 1:1 defending was on point, and he was able to settle the ball out of the air very well.
Second half he played center back. He had two plays in front of the goal that he cleared, and he did well with 1:1 defending on the perimeter of the box. I thought he had a great first game! However, we ended the game with a 1-2 loss.

Next week’s game can’t get here fast enough!

Make and Take Friday Night Fun
My co-workers, all of us working as interventionists, met tonight after school for dinner and a necklace making class. We go to school every day wondering what fresh hell we will find ourselves in the midst. A few drinks and some time away from the building is just what we needed.
Tonight’s class was hosted by a local boutique. They give shoppers who attend the class a discount on their inventory if you attend the class. I live the concept! It’s a win any way you look at it!
We used pressed flowers and resin to create our own unique designs, and then we cured it.
The flakes of mica caught the flash in an awkward way, but I love the Queen Anne’s lace.
It was a four day week and in some regards, it felt like ten days. But we got the weekend started with a little fun.

Game Day
It’s game day! We have three games on the docket today.
We started the morning in orange watching the Vols at Nissan.
Then we drove five miles southeast for some afternoon Trojan soccer.
The first team came out on top with a 4-0 win. Keagan told Evan about his first week of college classes, gave him a run down of the starting line up, and took him by his dorm room.

And now it’s time for our boys in gold, but the day in the sun has worn us out, so we are on the couch watching the game in pjs.
Tomorrow I’m not leaving my lounge chair by the pool.
