Getting Ready to Say Goodbye

The days raced by. Time ticked too fast. I am soaking up time together on these summer nights before both boys head to school.

Back at School

Today I moved Evan back into the house in Knox. He’s one of five guys living there this summer, and the best part is, he’s living there for free until fall semester.
After what I saw today, it better be for free!

The kitchen had flies in it and unwashed dishes for days. The cook is off for the summer, and the four guys living there haven’t cleaned it since summer started on May 22.

Evan’s room did have a decent carpet, a fridge, LED lights, shoe racks, space saving hangars and a set of corkscrews. Because we know what’s important in the frat house.

We cleaned it as best we could. We switched out one ungodly mattress for another and made the bed. We put the futon together and got the dehumidifier working. We got a fan running on high and the fridge stocked with Costco meals.

He and Anna will be back home intermittently until rush begins in mid August.

Fingers crossed that his first day at his new job goes well on Wednesday.

Softball

This weekend Mallory picked up with a local team and played in a tournament in Clarksville. The eleven of us were packed up in this house like 1900 tenement housing sleeping on couches and on the floor. And we went through some serious groceries. Saturday I made a beautiful fruit pizza.

Five minutes later I found this.

We had delays Saturday due to a water main break and filled the open time boutique shopping. Then the weather turned bad, and we experienced heavy rains and lightening delays. By the time the last game finished up, it was a very late night.

Sunday morning we hit the fields at noon just in time for the next storm.

There were no medals or rings this weekend, but we made some wonderful memories.

MW in SL

For Christmas last year, Vikki got me the most epic gift - a ticket to see Morgan Wallen in St. Louis. You might recall I bought her a towel. A towel! We got to finally see him Thursday night at Busch Stadium - one of the most eventful concerts I’ve attended.

One of the opening acts was Parker McCollum. I think this is about the time an usher had a heart attack in front of us. A doctor, who had just gone out to buy a snack, stopped to render CPR. A few more women, presumably nurses, stopped to assist. So scary! He sounded great once I was able to focus on him and not the EMTs.

The emergency team was called numerous times to assist with “sick” attendees - all carted out in wheel chairs. After a while a new usher was assigned to us, and he comes over to speak and he trips and falls into my arms. I’m thinking what’s up with all of tonight’s rescues?

Then my guy finally takes that stage, and I’m having the best time singing and dancing. And I spot her. In front of me is a young female running for the trash can sitting a foot away from me and just as she gets to me, she starts throwing up. In my haste to avoid her and her vomit, I tried to run away and tripped over a step and into the arms of another younger (soberish) girl. She caught me while drunk girl continued to hurl.

After a five hour show, the final fireworks were lit and the stadium lights were flipped on. What a night! So much fun! - even with the medical rescues.

Friday we toured the city.

And rode the tram to the top of the arch. We purchased the obligatory visitor pic because the tram ride was so memorable.

Red White and Blue

Our neighbors outdid themselves with tonight’s fireworks show. We all sat poolside watching them do all of the work. I cheered at all the right times to show my appreciation.

Best part is after the show nobody is fighting traffic to get back home.

After a big lunch, an afternoon in the sun, and a swim in the pool, we are all sunkissed and ready for sleep.

So thankful to live in the home of the free and the land of the brave. ❤️🤍💙

Funny

Keagan: It’s a good day when you come into the kitchen and hear country music playing and the mixer running. It means Mom’s fixin’ something real good! 😂

I always do my best cookin’ with Morgan.
