Senior Night

Tonight we attended the girls’ soccer game where  Madilyn was recognized at senior night. The stands were filled with Madi’s fans - including Cameron and Keagan. (This picture. Those eyes! 💙💙)

The girls won!

With a minute left in the game, Madi received the ball in the box. Keagan was gripping my arm; I was yelling for her to shoot. And in slow motion we watched Madi score a goal. Her first! The crowd went wild and the girls on the field were jumping up and down celebrating, but she was called offsides and the goal was erased. What a memorable night!

Magazine Street

Saturday began with an excellent brunch at The Chloe. I ordered shrimp and grits, no surprise there, but I’m still thinking about the Bellini I had to drink.

We spent “one more minute” in the Garden district shopping on Magazine street. We caught the last few minutes of the UT Texas and UT Knox games back at the Air B&B, and then we had dinner at an Italian restaurant in the business district.

Tomorrow we go home, but we have spent hours and hours laughing, we have reminisced about the good ol’ days in Mt. Pleasant, and confirmed we make 48 years look good.

Next year’s trip can’t come fast enough!

Cheering for Their Teams

While I’m living it up in New Orleans, the boys are back home cheering for their teams.

Keagan was “allowed” to watch Madi play on Saturday afternoon. It was the first game he got to watch this season, and the girls went home with a 8-0 win.

Evan was at Neyland watching the Vols beat Florida. He looks happy having gator for dinner!

Jackson Square

Friday we spent the day in Jackson Square. We had fried oyster po boys for lunch and hurricanes from Lafitte’s, the oldest bar in New Orleans.

We walked to Jackson Square to window shop for Mardi Gras masks, listen to live performers, and tour St Louis Cathedral.

We had an early dinner of fresh scallops and then listened to a jazz band play at Preservation Hall.

No trip to the square is complete without beignets, so we made a stop at Cafe Du Monde for dessert.

It was another late night talking and sharing stories, but this time with the girls is totally worth the limited sleep.

Garden District

It’s the best weekend of the year! Girls’ weekend!  This year we met down south in the bayou of New Orleans. I was the first to arrive, so I waited in the airport and did so happily when I found this.

We all arrived in town Thursday night in time for dinner at a Creole restaurant in the Garden district.

That night we stayed up past midnight talking as if time in the last thirty years has stood still.

This year’s souvenir was a Mardi Gras themed water bottle created by Monica.

Last year’s two night trip was too fast, so this year we agreed to a three night stay. The fun has just begun!

Birthday Girls

For the first time in fourteen years, we got to celebrate my nieces’ September birthdays.

Mallory’s 14th birthday was last week. Caroline will be 12 this week.

It was a low key celebration - just lunch and cake.

And trampoline fun.

Acceptance #1

Keagan applied to his first school last week, and he received his acceptance letter from Wingate through email today. Will he be a bulldog?

College Visit

It was a late night last night for Keagan. I heard him come home at 6:15 this morning, and then we were out the door at 0830 for a school visit and a soccer game. We drove four hours into Alabama to a new school on our short, getting longer, list.

We had Whataburger for a late lunch, and then we watched the first half of the Tennessee game at the hotel before we headed to the fields for our first Regional Premier League game. And it was a good one. Three yellows and one red card later, we came away with the 3-2 win.

HoCo ‘22

This year marks HoCo #4 for Madi and Keagan.

Aren’t they the cutest? After pics, they had dinner, went to the football game, and then headed to the dance. Here’s a throwback to eighth grade and their first dance.

Soccer in Knox

We were lucky enough to get a state league game in Knoxville again this year! Keagan and I left town early enough on Saturday to grab a late lunch with Evan in Market Square before the game in Farragut. While driving through campus, Keagan sighted one of the robots that delivers food - he’s still fascinated by that technology. However, we didn’t catch sight of Sinan the squirrel. I guess he was resting up after Thursday’s big game.

Keagan’s team won with a score of 4-1. K had four clearances and two great plays up top almost leading to goals. It was definitely one of his better games. We are undefeated in state league play and play again on Wednesday night.

Football is Back 🏈🍊🛡

Football is back! Evan was at Thursday night’s Vol opener and big win against Ball State. He had great seats on row 16 with the guys from the fraternity.

Friday night Keagan was at his last high school Warfield Shield game.
