Merry and Bright

We might not be home for the holidays this year and we won’t have gifts under the tree to open Christmas morning, but we put the tree up and decorated like we will be. I love the neutral color scheme and the beautiful lights. My great grandmother’s wreath is the focus of the mantle.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas which means in less than thirty days we are on a jet plane.

Family Day

We ate leftovers today, we did a little Black Friday shopping, and we watched some more football. We went through old pictures reminiscing and laughed at big hair. We drank bubbly for dinner, and the girls even made another pie! (Because the seven, SEVEN!, desserts we already had were just not enough.)

Tomorrow the house clears out; Christmas goes up.

Happy Thanksgiving

I started my day early with a great workout at the gym.

Then I ate a plate full of carbs and negated all of that sweat and hard work at the gym.

We watched Cowboys football, drank wine, took naps, and ate some more at dessert time.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🦃
Tomorrow’s dinner has already been cooked.

Fantastic Four Together Again

My favorite holiday is almost here! I feel like I’ve been prepping for a week. I’ve been to the grocery store three times, and I have another order to pick up tomorrow. I’m ready (I think) to start cooking the feast on Wednesday. Mom and Dad arrive tomorrow, and both boys are home. My table is decorated; the pumpkin decor is out.

The guest room is ready; the house is clean.

I made brown rice and kielbasa for dinner. At 8:30 the boys wanted to know what else they could eat. The fridge was bare to make room for the feast I’m about to start cooking; I bought no snacks because Thursday is two sleeps away and I’m conserving calorie consumption. Keagan looked at me and said, “What’s your grocery budget now? $100 a week? Cause I don’t see much more than that in this house.”

Note to self: boys still eat a lot. All of this prep and I still don’t have enough food!

Formal

Last night both boys were in Knoxville for sorority formals.

Evan and Anna were at the Zeta formal.

Just down the street, Keagan and Madi were at the TriDelt formal.

Tonight both boys will be home for food, football, and sleep. ❤️

Legal

My baby boy is 21 today. I feel like this was yesterday and 21 years ago all at once.

I texted him this morning, “Drinks are on us tonight. Now throw away that fake id.” 🤣 I’ve been sweatin’ that thing for two years! We had a cookie cake decorated with a beer stein and a gift card to a local brewery delivered to him at school today.

In true Evan form he asked for only necessities for his birthday: socks, underwear, and money for his meal plan. 🤣

Happy 21st birthday, Evan! These pics prove you’ve been wearing orange since 2002! Love you big!
